From the news, research
and report have shown concern of our government since the age of onset of CVD
is younger compared to Southeast Asia. An increasing trend of overweight and
obesity prevalence was observed among Malaysian adults aged 18 years and older:
29.1% (95% CI: 28.6–29.7) and 14.5% (95% CI: 13.6–14.5) in 2006, 29.4% (95% CI:
28.4–30.4) and 15.1% (95% CI: 14.3–15.9) in 2011, 30.0% (95% CI: 29.1–31.0) and
17.7% (95% CI: 16.9–18.5) in 2015, respectively. According to the 2015 National
Health and Morbidity Survey, an estimated 47.7 percent of Malaysians aged 18
and above have high blood cholesterol, which is also known as
hypercholesterolemia. This figure is a relative increase compared to 32.6 per
cent in 2011.
As the world moves towards In the era of intelligence, young age becomes more and more important in this part.
They are leading a country to a modern way and also leading the growth of the economy
of a country. Thus, the onset of CVD at young age will cause Malaysia
to lost talent or may cause a reversed of the country. Furthermore, the mortality of
young age may also cause a decrease of population and fertility decline. These
problems will drag a country from developing to a modern country.

Malaysia Government had
joined WHO in order to prevent CVD in Malaysia. Ministry of health already
cooperates with the Academy of Medicine and Professional Non-Governmental The organization since the mid-1990s to manage the risk of CVD. They had published
Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) in order to manage coronary heart disease in
Malaysia. And then in 2010, the MOH launched the National Strategic Plan for
Non-Communicable Disease (NSP-NCD) in response to the global challenge in
combatting NCD in general and CVD in particular. In addition, the government also
established ‘Yayasan Jantung Malaysia’, the heart of foundation to help and
raise awareness of people. Therefore, the government also introduced and strongly
promoting Primary and Secondary prevention of CVD through the campaign. To
cultivate healthy lifestyles through exercise among Malaysians, especially the
youth, and also aims to raise awareness and increase the interest of youth for
an active life. Lastly, the best solution to cure CVD is to prevent disease
instead of the trap in the risk of CVD.

Important points to prevent CVD:
- Diet to keep the Body Mass Index <25kg/m2.
- Healthy diet to include more fruits and vegetables.
- Exercise >150 mins/day.
- Early detection of risk factors by regular medical check-up.
- Adopting a healthy lifestyle, quit smoking, healthy diet, weight reduction and regular exercise.
- Optimizing blood pressure in those with high blood pressure.
- Control of blood sugar level in those with diabetes.
- Control of cholesterol level in those with high cholesterol.
