Coronary Vascular disease IN Malaysia
Coronary Vascular Disease (CVD)
In this recent year, the statistics of causes of death due to Coronary Vascular Disease has become higher and higher. But why the mortality rate increased? Is Malaysia Government doesn't work on it? Or else is because of Malaysia's people's food culture or maybe stressful of life? From the research, we have concluded a list of risk factors that likely to cause CVD among Malaysia's people.
Risk factors of CVD can be classified into modifiable and unmodifiable risk factors.
Modifiable Risk Factors
Hypertension:
Uncontrolled high blood pressure can result in hardening and thickening of your
arteries, narrowing the vessels through which blood flows.
High blood cholesterol
levels: High levels
of cholesterol in your blood can increase the risk of formation of plaques and
atherosclerosis.
Diabetes: Diabetes increases your risk of heart
disease. Both conditions share similar risk factors, such as obesity and high
blood pressure.
Obesity: Excess weight and fat that may form a blockage in blood vessels. To stop the normal blood flow. The main reason is the lack
of physical activity.
Smoking: Nicotine constricts your blood vessels, and
carbon monoxide can damage their inner lining, making them more susceptible to
atherosclerosis. Heart attacks are more common in smokers than in nonsmokers.
Alcohol: Excess
taking of alcohol may cause liver cirrhosis and affect the blood flow system.
Non-Modifiable Risk Factors
Age: Aging
increases your risk of damaged and narrowed arteries and weakened or thickened
heart muscle.
Sex: Men are
generally at greater risk of heart disease. However, women's risk increases
after menopause.
Family history: A
family history of heart disease increases your risk of coronary artery disease,
especially if a parent developed it at an early age (before age 55 for a male
relative, such as your brother or father, and 65 for a female relative, such as
your mother or sister).
Ethnicity: South
Asians (Indians) have a higher prevalence of CHD and CV mortality compared with
Europeans.63 East Asians (Chinese and Japanese) exhibit consistently higher rates
of stroke.
Lastly, the government had actually worked on it to reduce the death caused by CVD. They tried to raise awareness of people towards CVDs and promote idea of healthy actively in several ways.
